I want to make a screen cage for my anole.i want it to be around 50 gallons.it is probabaly very big for an anole but it will give her alot of places to rome around.i need to know the ideas you have and plans to put this cage to getther.the ticky part is making the bottem.. I was thinking to make a glass insert that goes on the bottem.so it would be all screen and the bottem is held on by velcro and it can come off and you lift up the sceen and you can claen the bottem very easily.i'am making the cage,2 1/2 feet long,2 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide.the braces theat are in each corner are going to be 1 inch. by 1 inch. wide.this cages is going to be a major change when it is done.she will fell like she is in paridice form her 10 galloon tank.i'am going to get another Anole for her and maybe a Gecko or 2.i want to get i think it is a day Gecko.they run about $95.00 candaian.they are bight green and bright spots.they are beautifull little guys.should i have a non-slip cilicon type on the bottem to prevent the cage from slipping?how should i make a front door to get into the cage? Thanks.

about your glass bottom situation! i know you can get plastic inserts to put in the bottom of mesh enclosures? maybe you would buy one fo those and build your cage to size? you could probably get one big enough.

A couple of things. I don't know how you are going to make the bottom but I don't know why you would have to velcro it on an anole is not going to be strong enought to push it off. Unless you have a large anole like a cuban or Knight anole. Also I don't recommend putting a gecko in with the anole. I think you are talking about a madagascar gaint day gecko. It will get quite a bit larger the the anole and will most likely kill it. and a day gecko needs a litttle higher humitity then a screen cage can give you. This is just my 2 cents.

What types of other lizards can you put with anoles?I seen before a person had a frog, newt, and an anole all to gether in one cage.

Well you really should not put any animals of different species in together. With that said, if you do put animals together you what to make sure that they have similar heat and humidity requirements. Also make sure that you don't have species that compete for the same space. I personnally have a large tank that has 4 anoles, 2 house geckos, 3 green tree frogs, and an emerald swift all together. I have had the tank for quite a few years with no trouble. I have even had some of the animals breed. I have gotten both house gecko and anole eggs. Even though I don't recommend it, it can be done.
