I know one feeding a week seems to be the norm, but my super dwarf retic is 3-4 months young. Shes energetic, but slim in my opinion. Is there anything wrong with feeding her every 5 days?
Thanks for everything!:)

I generally judge when to feed from snake to snake. Typically Mine are ready to feed 2-3 days after they poop which is usually when they become active and start cruising around.

So, I shouldn't consider feeding her till she has pooped?

Thats generally what I go by but dont gave retics. Maybe some retic owners will chime in on this.

Feed her every 5-7 days. Their metabolism is through the roof. At that age you won't see much in the way of poop because they'll digest most if not all of their meal since it won't have much hair. I've got 4 SD or SD crosses and even at the age of three they're still small and eating large meals weekly.

Thank you. Today is day five.
Not sure if I should start a new thread, but Millertime, would you happen to know what the thick white substance is she drops on the substrate. There's small droppings of white thick pasty looking stuff. Sorry I can't describe it better.
I picked her up once without letting her come to me and I think she went pee all over including on my,but it was white and cloudy.
Sorry, I ramble...

Sounds like urates, completely normal. Don't forget retics are very slim snakes, they should look slim all the way to adulthood :)

Yup, urates. Totally normal. Sounds like she was scared and peed to try and distract you so she could escape. They're pretty flighty as babies but they calm down as they age.

Tsubaki, thank you. I was just concerned because she's especially thin behind her head, but she has no prob swallowing an adult mouse so I'll stop being paranoid.

My SDs are always thin behind the head for the first year or so before they start to fill out a bit. Nothing to stress over IMO as long as she's healthy.

No problem, especially if it's your first retic their slender build takes some getting used to. My burmese python male is nearly 6 months old, even though he's 1,5 foot shorter he's as thick as a retic male twice his age. :)

She's been an excellent companion so far. Once she's out of the tank and settles down, she wraps around my hand and wrist and goes along for the ride. Occasionally she climbs up and wraps around my head. I'm guessing she likes the stubble of my shaved head...:D

On a serious note, yes she's my first retic and I'm waiting for a response on a male 8 yr old JCP I applied to adopt.
I appreciate all your input and advice. I need it.

Honestly she probably likes the heat and the view up there. Most of my retics like to sit on top of my head if they're small enough. Even the big ones will rest their head on top of mine and just watch.

Just fed her. She thought about it then took it quick....
