View Full Version : BRB Feeding
Tonight we tried to feed our baby brb & when came out of the Cypress/Hide we noticed that her skin is dark & her eyes also. I guess this is the shedding stage?
She showed no interest in the mouse & went back into her hide & we removed the mouse. Is it ok now to wait & never force/stress her out during this process. We will try again to feed her after the shed.
Thx

If the mouse was f/t you can try leaving it in over night. If it was live, thank you for removing it!
Some snakes eat during shed, some don't. I'd say to try again in a few days.
Thx Minkness
It is a live mouse & we did take it out. We will wait after the shed process. Some people say to tap the snake on the nose with the mouse to get her to bite while using the tongs but I was concerned she will get bit.

Yeah, you sound really knowledgeable for a beginner. You must be a natural. =)
If it doesn't take to the normal mouse you may be able to see if there are any african soft fur breeders near you that might have a live pop or fuzzy you can try after the shed.
Good luck!

No need to go the soft fur route, as rainbows are native to a different continent. Plus, you run the risk she will decide she *only* likes those, causing supply issues. ;-)
Just try again in a week, as hopefully she will have shed by then. If not, no worries, she will shed and then eat eventually!

Yes, I think she is about to shed from a few days ago when she wouldn't take the mouse. Her eyes are cloudy & her skin is dark.
She has been under the Cypress for a few days now & has not come up. At night she moves to the hide but never emerges during the day.
This is what she did the last time right before she shed. My son is patiently waiting cause he likes to watch her shed!

Hopefully he'll get to see it soon! :-)
