View Full Version : Dumeril Breeding
I cannot for the life of me remember if I posted about my Dumerils Breeding.
There is a bit of history here, so bear with me. The Post may take a few pages.
This pair is now 9 years old and I have had them from new born's in 2005.
In 2009, I bred them for the first time, the result was 14 slugs.
In 2010, I bred them again, the result was 7 Slugs, 7 Babies, all of whom died.
In 2011, I bred them again, the result was 11 Slugs, 1 Baby who lived.
In 2012, I bred them again, the result was 13 Slugs, 2 Babies who lived.
In 2013, I gave them a break and did not pair them up.
In 2014, I bred them again, but that will be described on the next page.
So onto phase two, as said previously, I paired them in 2014 and witnessed a few positive locks. The difference this time around is that whereas in previous breeding attempts, the female has never gone the full eight months gestation period, she is now about 3 weeks away from going a full gestation period. This makes me very hopeful for my first successful Dumeril Breeding Season.
I will post a few pics of her progression.

I have a buddy that breeds them and he always wait till the females is at least 5 years of age. Last year he brought over a six year old virgin to put with my male. He want to bring some new blood into his breed group. We got 14 healthy babies.
Best of luck hopefully you get a nice healthy clutch.
Thank You All
I guess the next 3 to 4 weeks will tell a story.
