View Full Version : Breeding mice
Hi, I'd like to breed mice for my boa, is it expensive? How many cages do I need? Do I have to put some good music, serve french dishes and italian wine or do they share their sexual habits with rabbits?
Thank you

You will probably find that breeding mice for one snake is not worth the time and money. You most likely will end up with to many mice to feed off to one snake.

Also, boa's won't be eating mice very long. Waste of your time and money. ;)

Very good point!
Uhm, all good points... I guess You are right, I gave her the mouse one day earlier this week and now they look like best friends, she doesn't eat that much at all... :/ And I don't want to overfeed her of course. Ok thanks. :)

Don't leave the mouse in there if she isn't eating it. They'll start chewing on your snake eventually.
Another thing with breeding mice is they STINK. A lot. I've set up a small breeding colony twice, and both times I gave up before I even got one litter out of them. The upkeep and smell is just too much. It would probably be worth it if you had a lot of snakes, but it's not if you only need a few mice per month.
Hahahahaha you're definitely right, I was impressed by the amount of stink that the single one I have can produce XD and let's not talk about the s***!!!
Don't worry anyway, I put him to spread his stink in his own new home...
