View Full Version : Brb and red tail
So I currently have a brb in an animal plastics cage. Soon a will have a redtail as well and I have the cages stacked on top on one another. I use flex watt heat tape for my brb. I tried the rhp but it just dried out the cage way too much. If I were to use heat tape for the redtail would that be enough? And is there a way to also avoid heating the cage below it if they're stacked on top of each other?

Being the Red need high heat put him on the bottom. That way the heat from the top and bottom will give it a bit warm hot side. I use heat pads in my stack. The one thing i do is slide a thin piece of wood or tile between the cages to make sure the UTH can breath. This way it doesn't get to hot and burn out. Also get a temp gun and thermostat.

I use heating cables to heat my quarantine tub in stead of tape, i make sure to tape them off with heating tape. It heats up more evenly and faster, no heat escaping through the bottom. I always hook it all up to a thermostat, so they can't get too hot. :)
This picture was taken when i already taped off the hot side (close coiled) and was preparing to tape off the cool side. (i also put thick felt stickers on it to prevent the cage from resting on the cable) This is a herptek not animal plastics, but i think it's the same material.
