Her name is cupid!! and yea i am 99.999% it is a female. But i got her for valentines day thats why i named her cupid. She's caged for now (i have 3 dogs and two cats and she is TINY) until she gets bigger she'll be stuck in a dumb ol' cage :(

Length from snout to tail... I had to use 4x zoom to take the picture above cause i can't even get near her without her going ape $hi* on me. She is quite precious. I never really thought i'd "get into" an iguana as much as I am. I always have found them cute... but i meani am reading everything i can get my hands on. I'm putting more pictures in another post in about 15 minutes. Thank God I have Trace, she's looking out for me, so i don't let this baby dinosar kill me. And what's really cool is, in most of my reptile mags theres an ad for (zoo med) maybe???? i don't remember.. and it has a picture of a GORGEOUS iguana and it says something like "keep her looking as ancient as when you two first met" I was thought that was awesome and i cut it out and hung it above her enclosure!! But yea, Thanks To trace the iguana hasn't cut a major artery yet ;)

mike

P.S. If anybody wants to blurt out any information feel free. i'm reading anapsid.org and Melissa Kaplins book like crazy!. and Trace is helping me out a ton.. but like recipes for their salads would rock! :) THanks for the kinds words all

Unless you got her probed, she is way to small to sex.

MK's book is pretty good, but I have a beef with the alfalfa supplement part.

Pick up or order a copy of "Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual by James W. Hatfield III"

It is the best ig book out there IMHO.

Good luck with her!

I agree with Andrea88...there is no way to tell sex at that age. Usually sex is not clear until they are one, two or even older.

I also agree about your beef with alfalfa pellets. That part of MK's stuff is BS. I raise Roxy on 70% collard green, dandelion green...and 30% veggies....fruits for snack only. And she has put on a foot and a bit in the last two years and her bloodwork is excellent. That much growth ain't bad for a iguana I got when she was already five. She is seven now.

Just remember a couple key points pythonian...
collard greens/dandelion greens
winter squashes and veggies
heat
UVB/UVA lights
plenty of room.
Maybe a supplement until the age or one or two. Then only every couple weeks. Once they are adults they need less.

And honestly, you'll do fine.
