View Full Version : New to forum and snakes!
Hi everybody and first of all sorry for my English... ^^
I always loved animals and I recently fell in love with a 5 months old Boa Constrictor, Athena, and took her home but I almost have no idea where to start from (and I'm not sure a Boa is the best for a newbie.....! :P).
The seller needs a pause sometimes, so here I am!
Nice to meet you. :)

Welcome and best wishes. I don't keep boas but I'm sure some of the experienced boa keepers can help you with husbandry tips. For starters make sure you have a reliable heat source that's controlled by a thermostat. If you haven't already, you can read a few care sheets for your heating, humidity and feeding guidelines. Post pics of your snake and enclosure when you can.

Sorry but I'm not the kind of keeper to give you all the answers. However I have looked up just a few sources that I used when I started. They may not ALL have the best info, but this will give you an idea of what you need to do. Once you get a little more knowledge, then we'll focus on specific answers, but for right now you need it all, so here it is!

PS: Boa's CAN be great starter snakes, just be aware they do get larger than Ball Pythons or Corn Snakes.
PPS: Google can be a great source to use, just make sure you cross reference your data to make sure it's correct.
