My moms boyfriend brought home a Florida water banded snake last night but I didn't know because he wanted to surprise me otherwise i wouldv told him to just let it go. So the next morning i went to my moms house and i saw that it was in a plastic container with nothing but cedar chips in it! I moved him into a bigger container with eco earth, a hide, water, and a heat lamp. the snake was obviously sick because it barley moved when i picked him up. no sign of aggression which is weird for a water snake. i kept it in the new enclosure for awhile and decided to let it go near a pond. But when i did he didn't try to flee as you can see in the picture. I really don't know what to do, i have never been in this kind of situation before so any help is appreciated.

It's still better off outside than in captivity. Put it in a secluded spot under some cover and leave it.

I would bring it to a facility that is qualified to help snakes

You did the right thing. You tried to make the snake as comfortable as possible and then let it go as soon as you could.
