For everyone who has followed my journey of me getting my very first snake ever...thank you!
To everyone else....I hope you enjoy these crappy cell pics anyway! Lol
Also, the packaging was great! However fedex is so deep in the hole with me it's not even funny. The box she came in has 'this side up' arrows and as I stood there in my door way looking at the guy and waiting for him to pass me the little box, he was turning it every which way! He got an ear full then I signed and immediately took my box. I could tell after I opened it that she'd been tossed around.
i have ordered other reptiles before and they have come through fedex and NEVER I had seen such lack of care for a package. I blame the holidays and will NEVER order near a big holiday ever again. =(
That being said, she was completely unharmed and beautiful, as well as christening me as soon as I picked her up with a great pee and poo lol. I rinsed her off in some warm water, took these pics, then put her in her tank. She is now actively exploring what little space she has (for now she's in a standard 5 gallon tank).
I was expecting her to be a bit more stressed and vicious, but she's rather calm and didn't even coil up for an attack lol. I would blame the cold, but her box was nice and toasty and she was barely cool to the touch.
as of yet, not named, but working on that!
without further adue, I present my new reptibaby! =D

Also, she has the cutest heart shaped white spot under her chin lol.
Will that be staying?

Lol! The agreement was that I could have ONE snake. XD
But I'd love to add a male red sided garter and a hognose some day.
I have a repticon coming here in march so I'll see what they have there and feel out what I can get away with here by then lol.

Meh, once you break that first snake in the house barrier, the opposition usually gives in and gives up pretty quick. :D

Noodle still has his chin spot 6 months later. Not sure if they stay for good, though!

I was allowed ONE. She caved on the 2nd. Stood her ground on the 3rd and I have that one at my office.

It's beautiful, congrats! Glad that everything went well after the suspense of the delivery. Definitely worth the wait!

Well if you can only have one snake, you certainly picked a great one to have. Beautiful animals that will keep you entertained for a long time. Congratulations!!!

Lol!
I'm sure hoping so! She all ready asked to 'just see it' when one of the stipulations was that she'd NEVER have to see it lol.
However, since this is my 1st, I don't want to over do it too fast, so, I am waiting at least till repticon lol.
I'm a bit picky since space can be limited at times. Keep in mind I all ready have 11 geckos! And, per my 'roommate' I have to keep all my reptiles in my own room.
However, my new girl is a bit shy. She will be exploring a bit, then if I look at her or walk up to her tank, she hides really fast and then just watches me. Lol. Kind of adorable!

One word to the wise, ALWAYS make sure that your cage is properly closed and secured. King snakes (and Milk Snakes) are unbelievably good escape artists and once they are on the loose, it is very tough to find them. They often stay missing for weeks before the just show up when and where you least expect them. If you ever want to get more snakes, you can't let this one get loose, especially if the ultimate decision maker is not really that comfortable with snakes. Just something to keep in mind...

I had a black king snake escape when I was a kid. My neighborhood friends stopped by when I wasn't home to show it to someone and didn't put the shoddy, homemade top back on the tank correctly. It was 3-4' long and I NEVER did find it. That almost undid the years of conditioning I'd done with my phobic mom and her letting me keep snakes in the house. All I can figure is it found a way out. Or, looking back, it's possible my dad found it crawling across the floor and released it without telling me.

Sadly my cats would probably kill it first x_x

Nice MBK Minkness! Thank you for posting pics! You should see if getting rid of a cat or 2 will allow you to have more snakes=)??? Just food for thought!

To this point, when I was younger and my BPs got out of their cage a lot, their lid was cardboards and books on top, I would use my cats to help find them. The cats always seemed so intrigued by them and would always camp outside their hiding spots. Thankfully neither killed eachother though.

Hmmm....sounds like a good idea! Lol. I've had my geckos escape before, usually they don't make it out of my room, but one made it all the way to the kitchen. Neither the cats or the dog helped in finding him. Just happened to see him skittering across the floor lol.
