Any tips for me?

Hello,
I recently bought Konica Minolta Dimage A200, so I finally have a good equimpent to take photos of my snakes.
Do you have any tips for me how to best take a decent, clear photos? I know about natural light, and I have some macro lens, but how to start? :)
