View Full Version : Lighting
Not for a heat source as I use UTA's. But I am using those spiral looking CFL's. They pretty much put off little or no heat. Am I using the right type of light? Do I need to use something else that puts off beneficial rays?

what type of reptile are you keeping mate ?
they all require different types of light
for example.....
i use 2.0 UVB Natural Sunlight bulbs for my Diamond Pythons...
any stronger UVB would be harmful to my snakes
where as if i kept a desert dwelling lizard...
i would use 10.0 UVB Desert Light bulbs
UVB comes in different strengths you match the strength to what your reptile would get in the wild
cheers shaun
Sorry, I should have listed. Lighting is something I've not had a chance to do a lot of research into yet. Here is what I have.

I use rgb led light strips for lighting. Don't add much heat and provide plenty of light and easy installation.

Snakes normally do not require any special lights. Use what you want to light the enclosure. Some lights add extra heat during the day, light basking lights and other lights do not add heat, light led's.
