NEw monitor! thoughts?

Got this guy shipped to me yesterday. he doesn't look to have been in the best care. very skittish. I was just wondering all of your thoughts on him and any advice on how i should get him use to me. As well as info on training and handling and feeding. all advice appreciated. thanks!

Hi, can you give some details on the conditions you keep the monitor in; enclosure size and type, temp and humidity ranges etc, plus a few photos of the whole enclosure? Thanks!

He's in a four foot by two foot by three foot melamine enclosure with topsoil and sand bedding. He has about one foot of bedding in there so plenty of room for him to burrow.

Is the melamine sealed with anything? If not, expect it to start rotting through after around 6 months. That stuff does not hold up well to wet dirt :).
