mhmm, juvenile Cottonmouth. Should be a Florida Cottonmouth, although they do intergrade with Easterns in the western-most tip of the Florida panhandle. The snake would see the dog as a predator and was just trying to defend itself.

Why did you have to kill it? It didn't cross your mind to call an animal service that could safely remove the snake without anyone getting harmed?

Easy folks. If what the person says is true, I don't think it's hard to understand why they would act this way. Not everyone are snake people. If a snake of any kind is striking at a pet, especially a dog which for most is a member of the family, it's understandable for someone to do what's necessary at that time. This would be a great time to point out that there are snake removal services to utilize in the future.

They are easily able to be scooped up in a bucket and taken elsewhere. Did it cross your mind to.put your dog up? Common sense. YOU LIVE IN FLORIDA!

i love dogs but i would kill a wild dog if it was about to bite one of my snakes... doesnt make the situation any prettier tho. you should at least cook and eat the snake. if you kill something you should eat it.
