Eastern Milk Snake

It occurs to me that there are so many CB varieties of king and milk snakes available, but I've never seen or heard of a CB Eastern milk snake. Anyone know of a particular reason for that?

Most likely not a great demand for people wanting to keep them. I keep W/C Eastern Milks and they do great in captivity.

I've wondered this myself. I've always thought it was possible that due to them looking so similar to corn snakes, and the latter being so readily available, that possibly they just never took off.

Way cooler looking kings and milks is why.

Up here in Ontario, they are native so we just aren't allowed to keep them.

That's not an Eastern milk snake, not even remotely similar in color/pattern. Eastern milks look more like a regular corn snake.

The Baltimore County milks look pretty similar to the ones I've seen locally. I had no idea they ran as red as the Eastern VA locality. IMO they're just as good looking as a number of other colubrids in the hobby, and have a really mellow disposition to boot. I've never been bitten or even struck at by a wild one regardless of size, from hatchling to 3' adult. The larger local ones I've seen did have a more variable pattern, some of the markings were much more irregular in shape.

Eastern milk babies are hard starters, lizard eaters for the most part, and extremely small.
