Got a new pair of African house snakes. The front belly has a little bit of brown that seems to be chipping away on a scale or two. Is this scale rot?

I wish I knew but I hope not kid. I'm sure one of the more experienced keepers will chime in soon. Best wishes and congrats on the new additions.

That's a horrible picture. No advice can be given.
Also, don't house them together in case you're thinking about it. These guys breed like rabbits.
Good news, they are pretty much bulletproof so you shouldn't have issues like you did with your ATB. They are a much more suitable species for you considering your situation.

I'm going to be breeding them eventually, but right now they are housed seperately. The female is still to small to breed so I was afraid of her getting egg bound which is why. I'll also probably house them separately when I am breeding just to help control it.
Also, that's part of the reason I picked this species. I herd they are about as hardy as corns (if not more) and I've had my corn for 11 years with almost no problems. :)
I'm going to wait a few years before I try any more advanced species again. Right now I want to focus on school, work, and starting breeding. I'm doing volunteer work for a snake breeder. I'm going to be spotting my corn to one of hers next spring and breeding the house snakes as soon as they are the right size.
