hey everyone coming to you with yet another question :) my custom enclosure is being assembled in my place tomorrow for my black throat monitor that I will be picking up next Wednesday from Underground Reptiles (I could get whenever but I want a couple days to set up cage and make sure temp/humidity is good to go and steady before I bring him/her home!) however there is something I am trying to figure out how to do and im not quite sure how. the cage is really big, like really big and its 4 feet tall with the the light fixtures screwed into the top piece of the enclosure and I am trying to figure out where I can buy a log or something that I can put in there where the BT can climb to get a nice 130 degree basking temp. in order to do that though I will need something sturdy that will get about 2-2 1/2 feet upwards! I've never had a cage this big and cant find anything that size in pet stores. I could use some help here as I want this enclosure to be absolutely perfect for this monitor and not be some inhumane handler who doesn't have a good basking spot for his monitor. Thoughts gogogogo :) thanks

I bought my Jeweled eye Lacertas from Underground reptiles, they are the healthiest lizards I have purchased. Your BT will be happy with a 2 foot log any day. The largest log would have to be from a log pile, I needed several logs for my Lacertas 47" tall cage I just setup this past week. temporary_zps478480c5.jpg Photo by JCTRock | Photobucket (http://s284.photobucket.com/user/JCTRock/media/temporary_zps478480c5.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0)

Hi, 4 feet is really NOT very big ("tall") at all, especially once you add around 18inches + of substrate.
Instead of screwing the bulb holders to the ceiling why not just drill holes through the lid for the electric flex to pass through then suspend them so you can adjust their height up or down, as in this pic of my monitor`s basking area (this enclosure is 6 feet and 3 inches high).

I agree, four feet isn't very big. How wide and how long is the cage?
