Yeah i know its monday, i actually picked this sonaran gopher snake up on the 11th but he immediatly went into shed when i got him home so i just let him settle in for the week.

Ive been thinking about a new snake for a while and watching Ziggys beautiful bull snakes made me interested in a Pituophis of my own, found this guy looking for a home at an expo last weekend and decided to take him in.

I am told he is 3 and a half years old and havn't actually measured him but was also told he is 6'4" and he is quite a beast. unfortunatly he took a nasty rat bite a while back so he has a little scarring but we wont have that problem since i only feed frozen.

He is currently living in an iris christmas tree box with about a billion air holes drilled into it and has yet to try to strike at me but does have a pretty frightening hiss on him. Fed him his first meal (large rat) on saterday and he seemed to hiss at it the whole time even while swallowing. Any ways just thought i would show off some cell phone pics i took of him. Enjoy!

Wow, he's a full sized beauty Revent! I love his coloring and pattern. Glad he found a good home too. I got mine as hatchlings and they're hissing and striking was a little intimidating. I can only imagine that big guy getting upset. Pits are awesome though, he'll be putty in your hands in a few weeks. Great pick up bud. Enjoy the pit fever!

Revent- Is that Iris Christmas tub pretty secure? I was thinking of getting one of those.

Oh absolutely. Its only got two locks but the shape of the lid and tub make it pretty stiff and rigid an secure.

^^Copy that. If it can hold that beast of yours it must be pretty secure. Do you have any extra clips on the sides?

Well he has put absolutely zero effort in trying to escape I suspect he was kept in a much smaller enclosure before I got him. But even if he wanted out I feel confident that he couldn't do it.

Congrats revent! Sonoran's are my favorite gopher snake! I caught a 4.5 ft wild one this summer and she didn't bite or even hiss.
