I gave my adult corn a chick today and he took it without hesitation. He didn't hit it the way he hits mice, but he looks like he's enjoying himself.

I'm not sure if I'll feed him anymore chicks, as it was a bit nerve wracking watching him eat. He has a monster appetite, though and is still looking for more to eat after a small mouse and a chick.

Awesome! It's fun to watch them eat their first chick. My mbk loves them!

I thought chicks were more expensive? What's the reason you're trying to get him on them?

Cool pic btw.

Chicks are pretty cheap. I got 25 for 8 dollars from Big Cheese rodents, but I'm pretty sure you can get them cheaper from other sources. Also, I'm not trying to get him onto chicks. I was just offering him a chick to vary his diet up. I might try 2-3 week old quail in the future, too.

When I had my corn I offered him a few chicks and he seemed to really like them. He was a garbage disposal of a snake lol

Aww, lol. My corn is a voracious eater. Whenever I go near his cage, he comes out of hiding and does those herky jerky feeding mode mode movements. He's crazier if I mist first.

Yep, you have the only non-bird-eating snake on the forum, LOL. :p
My first pair of DRMB's are eating 1 day old quail chicks, so I got a bag of 100.
My 2nd pair of DRMB's have been raised on mice, and ignored the quail chicks the first time I offered them. The female was in shed, so no surprise there, but she's finished now, so I'm going to brain the chicks and try again. If they still won't take them it looks like I'll be feeding them rat pinks. Would really prefer to feed all 4 the quail though, don't want to keep them in the freezer too long.

Nice!! I have a poultry incubator and when my King Snake gets big enough I may just offer him some young poultry!
