I am thinking of switching to LED's for my snake enclosures instead of using the fluorescents(they get too hot).

How do I go about installing them? Are there any good brands that have everything good to go?

Cut led strip to desired length. Installation is done via peeling the the backing from the 3m adhesive and stick on desired location on inside top of enclosure. Connect strip to controller and power supply. With most kits you get plenty length of led strip. You can cut two lengths from spool because only two ends have connectors. If you want to use the rest of the spool you will have to get connectors and you adapters to split from controller and power supply. You can also order precut led strips for each enclosure. Also you have to decide on rgb (4 wire) or single color (2 wire). I like multi color myself. Also make sure the brightness is at Least 5000k. I think 6500k is probably better since it's close to natural sunlight. Make sure you get ul listed power supplies. Hope this helps some.

I've purchased from this site. They have quality products and cables/connectors.

The LED lights I got were shaped just like a fluorescent fixture, and were installed the same way, just without any bulbs. I don't think the enclosure I have with me is the one with the LED, but I usually leave my lights off, so I don't have to worry too much about how hot it gets. I got mine from Wal-Mart, though.

I had trouble with the stock 3m adhesive sticking to the top of my ap cages so I used double sided 3m auto body molding tape. Works fantastic!

I also recommend HitLights. Here is the set that I bought. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006JUW77Y)

The back stuck very well to the plastic in my Animal Plastics cage. No issues at all.

I only purchased connectors and cables from hitlites. My light strip kits were cheapos from amazon. That's why they didn't stick well to my ap cages. Hitlites sells quality stuff for sure! You get what you pay for!

Hello, I was wondering with these strip lights, say you got a 30watt and cut it in half and rewired it will it use half the wattage? may sound stupid but I'd like to be sure:L

I just put some LED lights i a wooden enclosure that has 4 compartments for some bp's. I found pot light style led lights at home depot. The reason i went with that style is because it came in a pack of 5 and was cheaper than me byuing 4 pkgs with a single strip. to run the wires I used a staple gun. I know that wont work in a pvc tank but worked great for my wood (laminant) multi dwelling unit. Ill try to put a pic up later theres a bunch i want to post just a busy time for me right now.

I just went on eBay and bought the ones for fish tanks with the sucker fasteners. Installed in 5 minutes :)
