The 13 babies of the Picasso-Nephrite litter are growing like little weeds.

All of them have had their first shed, and all but two have eaten twice (or more). Interestingly, there seems to be something unusual going on genetically with these little ones. Here is a sample “normal” baby:

And here is one that looks unusually light:

Note the odd head pattern as well as the light color.

Of the 13 babies, so far three look unusual. One of them, a probable holdback, also has a pink tongue. I will be sitting on the litter for a few more weeks until the second shed to try and sort this mystery out.

We have two more females still acting gravid this year: Jadeite and Jasper. Jadeite was paired with Franklin, and is due on October 6. Jasper was paired with Ramses (our hypo), and is due on November 1. We may have an additional female that surprises us, but nothing is certain at this point.

There's nothing "normal" about those critters Cliff. They're both quite exceptional. You do great work brother.

Thank you all! The litter contues to do well, and gets weighed again next week! They should be up for sale by mid- to late- October.
