Hello. Please see the attached photo. Can anyone identify this snake for me? It was quite small, and perhaps even smaller than my adult hand (I wasn't prepared to touch it to find out). The body was bright blue but, as you can see, the head was brown with white stripes.
I don't know if this snake is a Florida native, but I found this snake in my backyard in Gainesville, Florida (northern Florida). The snake was hiding behind a big vine that was growing up the side of a tall pine tree. In the photo, the snake had just emerged from its hiding spot after I alarmed it.
