I want to by a ball python but my parents say I can't because I have a dig I don't take care of. Also my mom says I can earn one by getting strait A's in school but I don't think I will be able to do that so any tips that will help convince my parents

Welcome and best wishes Crew. I'm not exactly sure how you can convince your parents to allow the new snake. I would suggest doing your absolute best in school, being respectful and responsible at home, taking better care of your current pet, and doing a lot of research in advance so you can prove to your folks that you're up to the task. You may even have to volunteer for a few extra chores for brownie points :). Good luck!

As said, it sounds like you're going to have to earn it. Prove to your parents that they ought to allow it. Also, while I know it's not something you want to hear, you do have to acknowledge the possibility that they may be right.

IF your parents are right and you have a pet you don't take care of you don't need any more pets, or the one you have for that matter. Pets of any type, dogs, cats, snakes, turtles, whatever are a responsibility and all require some care. Whether it is walking a dog or cleaning an enclosure. If you are not up to the responsibility you shouldn't get the animal. If you are responsible enough prove it to your parents by taking better care of the pet you have and good luck.

Sounds like you don't need one. If you don't take care of your dog, you'll soon lose interest in the snake and not take care of it either. They're not exactly the most interactive pets in the world anyway.

Everytime I want a pet, my parents say, "No. We are NEVER getting anymore animsls." That never really seems to affect anything. Usually when I want a pet bad enough I just buy it and all its supplies myself. My parents get over it in like 2-5 days as long as it doesn't smell or make noise.

Hell, the last time that happened was two months ago when I bought a gerbil. My dad HATES rodents and did not support me, but my mom was on my side because she knew gerbils don't really stink or make noise. I brought the fat little guy home and named him "Fennel". My Dad says it's the best pet I've ever had and he has even played with him!

I think it's mostly about responsibility. I only try to get an animal after maintaining a good impression on my parents. And I only buy animals I KNOW I can provide love and care for. Snakes are way easier to care for than dogs just fyi! BPs are excellent pet snakes. Good luck and best wishes!

Here's an idea, and I mean this with all the encouragement possible.......mind your parents, start getting as close to A's as possible (at least let them see you're working HARD at it) and don't "end run" your folks and "just get it anyway and hope they get used to it in a couple of days".....

You think he got his grades up by now? *scratches head*

Or maybe he just gave up on getting a bp. Who knows.
