Thought I'd ask a quick question on a new thread seen as I haven't had a reply on a old one. So today I weighed my Corn and found out he now weighs 18g and like I've said about the Munson feeding plan already, he should apparently be on two 3g pinkys. Now by the weight of the Pinkys I get from the pet shops I would have to give him 3 pinkys per feeding so my question is this... Should I just move him onto fuzzies? Or Is he still too small and I should stick to just feeding a few pinkies?

1/3rd of the snakes weight seems like a bit much to me, idk. I personally go by 10-15% of body weight or something just as big or barely bigger than the thickest part of the snake. Its hard to say if he's too small for fuzzies without seeing a pic of your snake with something for size reference.

I think it is more important that your snakes gets the right sized food for it's size than the number of food items offered. I would have no problems feeding one of my smaller snakes multiple food items to give it the correct amount of food rather than stressing it our with one food item that may be too large for it to handle. This is especially true for younger snakes. Just my thoughts...

Here's some pictures of Him so you can kind of get an idea of his size (the pictures don't really show how big he is) these are the most recent I have.

The second one is from a few weeks ago whereas the first one was only 3 days ago during feeding

I would feed him pinkies as he does not appear large enough to handle fuzzies yet. Just my opinion.

I was thinking that too, just thought I'd get confirmation really. Thanks a bunch.

Very nice looking corn Nova. I love his colors and pattern. I think he could handle a small fuzzy but it won't hurt to feed him pinkys for another few weeks. It definitely wont be much longer than that before he's on fuzzys.
3 pinkies seems like too much for that guy.

Thanks Ziggy. Yeah like I said to you on the other thread I might just feed him what pinkies I have left then start him on fuzzies. How often would I need to feed him a fuzzy if that becomes his new level of food intake? Every 5-7 days isn't it?

I was thinking this too. Surely 1 fuzzy would be better then 3 pinkies?

I was looking online and found a website that sells the correct size and weight of pinkies (3-4g) which is what he should be on. Should I go with this or just head straight to fuzzies?

I think you've got it right Nova. I would finish off the current supply of pinks and move him up to fuzzys. Most fuzzys weigh 4-7 grams each. Just feed him the smaller ones first. He's gonna grow quicker than you think. He'll be at 25g in no time :). If you order in bulk online you don't want to be left with a bunch of pinks that he's outgrown in 2-3 weeks. I also agree that there are more nutrients in the larger prey items so I try to get mine off pinks quickly. I'd say my hatchlings are on pinks for 6-8 weeks max before I move them up to fuzzys. I feed young snakes every 5-6 days and older snakes every 6-10 days .

Sweet thanks a bunch for the help Ziggy I'll do exactly that. So he's only about 3 months old so should I still feed him every 5-6 days on the fuzzies?

I think every 5-7 days is perfect until they reach a year. Then I start to scale back to every 7 days or so.
