Looking after my friend's geckos and her enclosure is overrun of these tiny bugs that look like springtails but don't jump. She said they came in a package of bedding one time and she's never gotten rid of them.
Anyone know what they are??

Are the a beetle? Maybe some sort of Tribolium?

They're some sort of soft bodied insect that looks very much like a springtail (same size, too) but they don't jump. They move wicked fast though. On everything but the geckos.
I wonder if some species of springtail don't jump?

Definitely look to large to be any spring-tail. I believe all species of spring-tail jump. Hence the name "Spring-Tail".
These do look familiar but I just can't remember what they are. I know who to ask though. For $25 I will be back with the answer :p.

Have they ever taken flight?

I don't think it's safe to say it's just a harmless decomposer until we identify what they are. So far I can say they are 100% not springtail.

Ok.
Bad news is, I just found them in my Crestie enclosure. They really seem to like the food dish, whatever they are. Can't think of any way to get rid of them since they probably aren't just in the enclosure, I have a lot of potted plants. Also my enclosure has live plants and soil etc.
