Hi everyone! I've had a few ball pythons in the past however here is my favorite of them thus far, primarily because of his story, not his morph. For a few years now I have been considering getting another ball python. I have a rule, however, when it comes to any animal I'm going to care for: It MUST be a rescue/rehome case.
Here's ChoJoe's story(before I post photos of my beautiful big guy-hah! You must READ…or scroll, your choice :P):
On Facebook there is a reptile rehoming/classifieds group that I'm a part of. I joined to scan for a perspective new pet and not even two weeks after joining I saw a post that caught my eye (amid the usual breeder postings). It was put on the page by a man who was rehoming his entire reptile collection. He had many wonderful animals, and a few ball pythons. One, however caught my eye. He was asking a very low price and on closer inspection I found that his reason for rehoming wasn't because he couldn't care for them: His partner was restricted to a wheelchair and their insurance company had denied them coverage for a new wheelchair ramp.
Several days passed and the python I'd seen gnawed at me in the back of my head. I really wanted to help and give a beautiful animal a life outside of a breeder's rack or stashed away in a collection of masses. I finally emailed the man about his lesser bumblebee x paradox (what he was listed as) and was told that he was still available. I snatched up who would soon be dubbed "Chojoe". I'll never forget the moment I lifted him out of the snake bag when he got home. He's grown so much since that first day and receives all of the love he could ever hope for <3 He's a little over 1000g and 4 feet now, growing, and happy! HERE…let me share my boy!(the last one I just took..apparently my shirt is a cozy place!)
