I really like both animals. They are both really amazing. I just don't know which one I want. I already have a 16 qt. tub, and I know a sand boa would be fine in there for its whole life. But a ball python would have to move into a 28 qt. tub for the remainder of its life. I would get a male either way. This may sound weird but I love the shape of the ball pythons head, but I'm not sure about being able to have rats readily available. I want to buy them online but I'm not sure how many to get and what sizes. With a sand boa I don't have to worry about that because they can eat mice. Please help!

Well honestly, rats are better for the snake, so either way you'd want to feed rats. And depending on how many snakes you have, buying online isn't worth it. I'm pretty sure you can only buy in bulk online, the smallest orders I've seen is 25 and I'm sure you'd be on to the next size before you ran out of the 25 if you only have one snake. That being said, both are great choices, sand boas require low humidity though and that *may* be hard to maintain in a tub though I'm sure it's doable. Sand boas are less commonly kept than balls though, so if you want something a little different I'd go with the boa. :)

I'd say pick the one that you like better. They sell frozen rats at Petsmart.

I'm with Max, go with the snake you like the most. As far as buying rats online I definitely think it's worth it. Even with the shipping costs you'll save money as opposed to buying from a pet store and you can store the feeders for a few months if you have the freezer space. Best wishes and let us know which critter you choose.

I've decided what snake I'm going to get. And I'm going with a ball python :) I can't wait to get it in a few months. Has anybody gone to the retile show in Taylor, MI and know of any good ball python breeders?
