Is it okay to refreeze?

I thawed a fuzzy for my MBK and then wussed out after considering its size vs the snake's some more. I fed him a couple of pinkies instead, and refroze the fuzzy. Will it be okay to feed later, or is that mouse a lost cause?

I have a monitor lizard so I never have these issues. I would move your guy off of pinks as quickly as possible though. If you think he can handle fuzzies or hoppers just go for it. Pinkies are just milk bags.

I know others have re frozen prey once with no issues but I personally haven't done it. I know how it is about moving up prey size sometimes. I've had some of the same concerns. I must admit though each time I've been amazed and surprised at the size of prey they can consume. Going from pinks to fuzzys to hoppers and now to jumbo mice and rat weaners soon to be small rats. It's great watching your kids grow up :)

I have refrozen a guinea pig once, because i knew i was the first to freeze it. It remained in shape, if you freeze too often the skin will tear.... (gross, especially if it happens when the snake strangles it) If you're unsure if it already has been frozen i would not do it again, especially not with something as squishy as young mice. You might be in for a surprise after defrosting.

I use to refreeze all the time and had no issues. My collection is so large now that if the snake will not eat it, I just give it to another snake.

I have froze prey items before after no interest. No issues when I've done it.

Well, if anything unfortunate happens when the King of Eating *** First eats the refrozen mouse, you can be sure I'll post about it. :P

Yup, if the original snake doesn't want it and someone else doesn't want it... back to the freezer it goes!

I think you need to be a bit more specific about when you can re-freeze as theres occasions when it wouldn't be a good idea.
In my opinion, if its only just defrosted and the snake refuses it then yes refreezeing is ok, however if its been left out defrosting all day and evening or left in the viv overnight for fussy eaters then it needs throwing away.

I personally wont refreeze at all, id rather lose a couple $/£…

I'll refreeze once, but only once. Afterwards it's the garbage. But I usually only set out enough to feed half of my animals at any one time which ensures there's always at least one hungry mount waiting if someone else doesn't want it.

In this case it wasn't out very long--I changed my mind about if he could eat it or not, so it was pretty much thawed and then...refrozen. Haha.

He ate it this Tuesday and seems fine. It did take him awhile to figure out how to eat a bigger mouse, though. He's been reclusive since but I think he might be getting ready to shed.

Refreezing should be okay as long as it hasn't started to decompose.

I saw a ed eating a rat that had been dead so long that it burst when it was being eaten .as far refrezeing I've done it snakes seem to like there rats a little ripe

As long as it hasn't started to decompose inside, refreezing it won't make it unhealthy. However I toss rats if they aren't eaten, because every time they are refrozen they lose some of the nutrients and as mentioned, they can fall apart if you do it a lot.
