Hi everyone :p I'm posting because well, it's time for new hides. My CRB's love the coconut hides and always have, but they're REALLY out growing them, as you can see. They have other adequate size hides but I still see them trying to fit in these ones all the time. So my question is, does anyone know where I can get some bigger hides just like them?

Coconuts are grown, not manufactured. They only grow so large. Unless you start cutting and gluing coconut shells together to some how make a large hide, nature only provides up to a certain size. You are going to have to look for some other type of hide, such as a half log wood hide. Trees grow in many sizes/

I know this haha, I guess I should have used better wording..I just meant what are some ideas for something I could use that's a similar shape to coconuts, I have half logs also and they use those, I just notice them trying to squeeze back into the coconuts a lot, so I figure they might like something with a similar shape, but can't really think of anything.

I know that you asked about finding larger coconut hides, but as Jerry stated, they only grow so large and from the looks of your photo, that's about as large as you'll find. I have a couple of hides made from snapping turtle shells that my snakes really like. Before anyone get's offended that I'm using turtle shells, these are found shells either cleaned out or with the dead turtle. Rather than let them go to waste, I use them for hides. They make excellent hides that look great and last forever. Just a thought

Huh. I'd never really thought about that, but that's a good idea. I'll keep that in mind, thanks! :)
Are your other hides round with a small opening? That could be providing them a secure feeling that the other hides aren't. You could try looking at small rodent hides? The plastic ones come in all sizes, and they are similar shape (: Or, a cheaper idea is to go to the dollar store, get a colourful round "party" bowl and cut out the handles. I can show you pictures of mine if how I described that makes no sense lol but they're really effective hides because they provide compete cover!

I wish I had seen these a few weeks ago when my elderly (and large!) RES turtle passed away... turning his shell into a snake hide would have been right up my alley for remembering him.

I think so too, haha. I laugh nearly every time I go in and see him like that, I do feel a bit bad for him though, lol.
I really like the turtle hides, since I aim to have a more natural look. I may end up going with some of those. :)

Hahah, unless someone can genetically modify coconuts for larger shells, I think you'll have to make some changes.
I've personally always been fond of terracotta pots as hides. They come in tons of shapes and sizes too, so you have plenty of options. :)
