We can play "guess what's in the box" if you want, but I think some of you may already know. But, after nearly 30 years, I'm finally getting the opportunity to work with my dream snake. He will be dropped off with Delta sometime late today or tonight, and will be ready for pick up around 9:00am tomorrow. I work until 3:00pm. I don't know if I'll last that long tomorrow. To make matters worse, I work about 2 miles down the road from the Delta Cargo office. The next 26-32 hours are going to be unbearable.

A rather large legless reptile!
If it's on Delta, likely venomous?

Ding! Ding! Ding! The Ziggy wins our grand prize of being the winner!
I've wanted an eastern indigo since I first read about them as a kid. Finally making that dream happen.

I'm afraid you placed 3rd behind Ziggy and IW17. The third place prize is not as prestigious as the first place prize of getting to be the winner. It is a bit better than the fourth place prize, however.

Will do! She actually fed her milk yesterday (with Dad's help)! I got a picture!

Thanks, man! I'll post more photos than anyone wants to see. I'm a photography junkie. But, for now, it's sit and wait time.

Your profile shows that you live in Huntsville. If that's Huntsville, Alabama, then I believe that there are restrictions about possessing an Eastern Indigo in Alabama. If you live in another state then, congratulations!!! Beautiful snake with a reputation for really messing up its cage. Please post lots of photos.
The Alabama state regulations state:
It shall be unlawful to take, capture, kill, or attempt to take, capture or kill, possess, sell, trade for anything of monetary value, or offer to sell or trade for anything of monetary value, the following nongame herp species (or any parts or reproductive products of such species) without a scientific collection permit or written permit from the Commissioner, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which shall specifically state what the permittee may do with regard to following species:(220-2-.96)
Reptiles:
Eastern Indigo Snake (Drymarchon corais couperi)
My dream snake as well.
Awesome stuff! Congrats.

That's awesome! My daughter got her first snake when she was around that age. She's 9 now, and just got her second. They're both corn snakes. Of course, I've helped her along the way, but she's really done a good job with them both. Her first one is now a big, healthy adult. In fact, at this moment, she has two snakes and I have zero. Haha.

Thanks, but I'm years ahead of you. I have both state and federal permits.

My husband had tried to get our 8 yr old to do it, she chickened out but not Jaz! She was like I will! As a mom I was on pins & needles but she did great. Its her snake, she even named it after herself (Blaise is her middle name the snake is Blaze! Lol)

Eminart,
That's great to hear. All too often we hear of people ignoring the laws which ultimately leads to bad PR for herp keepers. It's good to see someone prepare as well as you did and I would love to see you ultimately end up as a successful breeder for this amazing snake.

Thanks! Right now, I'm just going to raise the one male and see how that goes. But, I definitely would like to breed eventually, when I've learned more about them.

The Eastern Indigo is on my list of potential snakes to raise in the future, but not right now. I love them, they have that look in their eye like most HOTs have. That "I'm not afraid to throw down if I have to" look. :P
Gratz on the pick up, and triple kudos on the preparedness!!

Well, he's currently on an airplane somewhere over the western united states. It's going to be a long day at work tomorrow.
Big congrats man! I hope to work with drymarchon one day as well. Very much looking forward to the pictures you've promised :bouncy:
