As I mentioned in another thread, I attended the Repticon Atlanta and found it much better than the last couple I've attended. There was a much better selection of different varieties of snakes with a pretty good representation of Colubrids. I managed to get there right after they opened to the general public and quickly scanned the tables/displays looking for Honduran milk snakes to see what was available. I found a beautiful 2013 female Pearl Honduran milk snake which unfortunately had not for sale written on the container. I talked to the owner who tried to contact her husband to see if he was willing to sell it. When she couldn't get ahold of him, she ended up making an executive decision and I am now the proud owner of a lovely Pearl Honduran Milk snake. Her colors in the sunshine are a beautiful pearl iridescence over ivory and white. I want to give her a week or so to settle in and then I will take some photos to share with the other members here on the forum. I'm excited about finding just what I wanted. Usually I'm the guy who gets there just as someone else gets the prize. I was hoping to run into some of the other Atlanta members, but since we don't know what each other looks like, it's kind of hard to tell. Anyway, great day at the show!

El-Ziggy,

I'll post some photos ASAP. My only problem now is that I have to find someone interested beautiful male 2013 Tangerine Hypo Honduran Milk Snake out of Doug Mong's collection. He'll be priced reasonably, so let me know if you're interested and we can set up a time to meet.

Thanks for the consideration brother Jim. I know youve got some beauties in your collection. Right now I've got my sights locked in on a nice snow bull snake from Jason Nelson but I'm sure you'll find a good home for your tangerine hondo soon.. All the best bud.

Congratulations Jim! Can't wait to see a pic of her. I dont mean to be rude but something crossed my mind.. There are less than a handful of Pearls/Opals in existence. That said, I have never seen one for sale. The people who I know that have them would not even think of selling them. Also Reigning Reptiles is a pet shop/ online flipper. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but the odds of them having a female Pearl for sale would be slim to none in my mind. Sorry to be downer! I really hope she is a Pearl though!! It would be great to get some double or triple hets from you down the road!

PR,

Well, I guess anything is possible. She sure looks like a pearl and I showed her to two other Honduran keepers and they both said wasn't a snow and that they thought she was a pearl. She definitely has the pearl sheen going on and her bands are very light ivory white with no yellowing at all that you would expect in a snow. I'll post some photos later today as soon as my camera recharges. The folks I bought it from promised to send me her genetics information as soon as they got back to their shop. We'll she if that tells me anything useful. I'll keep you posted.

As promised, here is a photo of the latest Honduran Milk Snake that I picked up at Repticon Atlanta yesterday. I didn't want to stress her out too much so I just took a quick shot of her in the sunlight. The pearl sheen doesn't show much in the photo, but I suspect that is mainly because I am really not a very good photographer. I also don't look very good on the other side of the lens either, buts that’s a whole different story;)

Wow! She looks amazing! Now all you need is a male that is a triple het, snow het hypo, ghost het amel, or a hybino het anery to prove her out!! You are right she does not have very much yellow in her at all. Were you able to get any pedigree info on her? One of the things with pearls is there are different lines of anery in the US and they are not compatible. You truly may have found a diamond in the ruff!!

We'll see. I have a Hybino that's het anery, but she's also female:( I have an extreme hypo male that is 100% het albino and 100% het anery that I plan to breed her back to. At the very least, it will be interesting to see what she produces.

I'm supposed to the get genetic make-up of both parent snakes later this week. I'll let you know what he tells me.
