People will freak out and if it's real (I don't believe it, a similar thing happened in Houston with a Gaboon viper not too long ago) it will die pretty quickly in that climate. Wouldn't surprise me if it was some animal right's d-bag spreading rumors...

it is a real shame the way people react so ignorantly to snakes. a snake that big doesnt hunt all day every day and like you said that climate will kill it in no time. really unfortunate if it is an abandoned pet.

One serious question I had though-the article said something about anacondas eating and hunting all the time, not like a python. is there any truth to that? Just curious.

if it turns out to be an abandoned pet, the owner should be taken to the north pole and just dropped off.

I believe the story. This stuff happens around here alot. The climate here will support the snake until the fall. Either way the owner is responsible. Whether it was purposefully released or it escaped does not really matter to me. If you are going to take the responsibility of keeping an animal like that- it's on you to not let it out into the neighborhood. All it takes is someone's dog getting eaten (or worse) and people will go ballistic and demand to know why they are legal to have here.
This stuff happens alot unfortunately. Fortunately it rarely makes the news.
And I agree it's funny/sad at the misinformation.

It is a bad thing until winter comes and the snake will not be able to survive. Hope nothing bad happens between now and then.
