Should I pick a gecko or python I've been breeding dubias, mealworms, superworms, and nightcrawlers for the past year and I was thinking of getting a real pet if I get a python I would have to start getting feeding mice.

I personally like snakes more, but just your going to pick up a ball, go for Rats, instead of mice.

It really depends on which you'd prefer. They are both great first pet reptiles being hardy animals with relatively easy care and a good temperament. if I were you I would probably get a gecko seeing as you have experience breeding their food and that might save you a bit of money in the long run. (This is assuming you don't really consider the breeding colonies of worms pets and that you would actually feed them to your gecko)

I've never actually owned any leos but speaking from experience if you do get a Ball pythons try to make sure you pick up one that is a good feeder as some ball pythons can be extremely difficult when it comes to feeding.

Get both. You already have food for the Leo. So it would be like you're just getting a snake. ;)

They're both cool. I do prefer snakes, but BP's aren't my personal favorite. That would make this particular choice more difficult for me. I think I'd still go with the snake though.

I agree. and also how much room do you have?? Ball pythons take up more room than leos. You can keep a leo in a 10 gal tank its whole life, I put mine in a 20 though, gives her more roaming freedom
