View Full Version : Regurgitation or poop?

I fed him on Wednesday, I left Thursday to go to colorado and didn't get back until Saturday night. This brown colored stuff was laying under where his humidifier puts out fog. Looked like poop but then again it looks like it might be a mouse. And if it is regurgitation, why did he do it?

I see what kinda looks like a mouse but I also see what looks like urates. Can you seperate the items of importance from all of the that moss?

I agree. Hard to tell with all that distracting moss.

Generally you can tell by smell. If it smells like poo, it's poo. If it smells sour and stings your nostrils a bit, it's a regurge.

I'm not getting close enough to smell it. I could barely pick it up.. I can't see any noticeable mouse parts in there but Idk what that white stuff is. I got fairly close to it and it didn't have Smell. But idk when he did it, I was gone for 3 days so I'm sure the smell aired out by the time I got back

Why would you not get close enough to smell it? You wouldn't do it if it's for your pet? Part of raising an animal is dealing with poop and pee.

I just stated I got close to it and it didn't have a smell.

Sorry, i'm not really the type to go sniffing dog **** just because it's my dog

Reptile urine comes out in little white poop like pellets. If you genuinely want to know if it is a regurge or feces you should seperate it and poke around. If you want a second opinion take a picture seperate for us. It would help.

Left side of his cage has a heat lamp, temp measures 90 degrees. His humidity is around 70%.. He's on his cool side right now, under his hide. I haven't seen him on the hot side (which is where he regurgitated) since I've been home. He usually always is on the hot side, buried up under his moss:/ is something wrong with his cage? Idk what happened because I've been gone

I agree with feces. Your snake hiding on the cool side is not indicative of a problem. We offer a temperature gradient because the snake will use them. The snake knows what it needs. Just make sure there is ample cover and hides so the snake does not have to choose between warmth and security.

Pretty much this.

The coolside should rather be called the ambient side. It's where your snake will be most of the time. The hotspot is usually only utilized for digestion, increased immune system response and other processes where metabolism needs a boost.

I agree. In nature, snakes are going to spend a lot of their time hidden in some dark, cool place.

Any suggestion on a hide? He doesn't really have one on the warm side. I had a rock but he won't go under it so I took it out and laid moss around and now he gets under it and burries up. Idk if you would consider that a hide. I got a long vine full of leaves and left it barely unravelled so it's just like a big bush and put that on his cool side and he loves hiding under it

You can get good hides from here

reptilebasics.com

If you don't want to buy one, you can use anything that provides a tight and low space to coil up in. Cereal boxes, plastic food containers, stacks of slabs of rock, concrete...etc.

If it was a regurge you would know by the smell, there is no mistaking that smell

To add to this plastic coffee can, butter bowls, pretty much anything plastic.

Do you just turn the bowl upside down and let him dig his way under it? Or put it on it's side

Turn the bowl upside down and create a cutout where your snake can crawl into.

That..^..
The smell of a dead something going bad is horrendous. If you still have it leave it out for another 12 hrs and you'll know.

It looks like poop that soft, with fur in it and urates on top. (Bleacuchk!!)
