Hey guys here's some more pics for you guys. Pluto was fed today so we got some pics of him feeding, he took it straight out my tongs in a matter of seconds of it being infront of him. Also just as a little question he hasnt been near the hot side of the tank since I put him in there yesterday and even after feeding he's gone into his hide on the cool side, why do you think this is?

Congrats! What are your hot side and cool side Temps. My corn snake doesn't use his hot side hide much during the warmer months. Also I would start feeding inside the enclosure. It is less stressful for you and the snake.

My hot side temp is between 28-30C (80-85F) and the cool side is 20-24C (70-75F), well that's much more reassuring, see I've had conflicting views about this. I feed in a feeding box so he doesn't swallow the substrate because it can cause problems and so he associates the feeding box with food not his tank (both points are from what I've read and heard) but then some people say it's totally fine?

Most folks here feed inside the enclosures. No worries if your snake ingests a little substrate. In the wild and with my snakes, it happens all the time. I feed my snakes with tongs and don't ever physically touch them at feeding time. They learn very fast when it's time to eat. Mine know that when the are touched, that it's handling time. You can do this by hook training. (Google it).

I agree with Steve, definitely feed inside their enclosures.

Your point about the wild is very true, others have said the same. I might take your advice seen as it is easier to just feed inside it's vivarium.

If you are worried you can use a plastic top as a feeding tray.

Hmmm I could do. At least then I wouldn't have to worry about him ingesting any substrate. Thanks
