View Full Version : Color change..
Do you see a color change in your boas depending on the time of day, or is it just me? I know a lot of rainbows get white walls (I think that's the term...lol) depending on the time of day. In the afternoon and evening he's a dark grey with lots of speckles, but the rest of the time he's a light grey/silver with very little speckles. Just curious. :) Feel free to post pics of your color differences!

My CRBs get high white sides and their patterns become much more visible at night, and with my BCI, in the daytime he's a very dark brown but usually around 7-8:00 he starts to turn a very light grey with light brown saddles. Here's an example.
Daytime-he's sometimes darker than this.

Night time-this is an older pic but its the best one I have to show the color difference.

Wow. Looks like two different snakes.
Yeah it does, that's crazy. That's the difference with mine too. He looks completely different, at first I thought he was sick or had a burn on his head or something lol! That was when he was in his glass tank though and I was looking through the screen. Well I'm glad it isn't just me!!

Yeah, I was pretty amazed by it because when I brought him home he was that dark brown, then a couple days later I was pleasantly surprised with a grey snake, lol. Would love to see the color contrast in yours, you have a real looker.
Thanks a lot!:) ill definitely get some shots of him tomorrow.

When mine was a baby, he had some color-changes. I'm not sure if it was mood, or time of day. Sometimes he was dark during the day, sometimes he was dark during the night. lol Although he still goes through these changes, they're nowhere near as major and I tend to have a hard time capturing it on camera nowadays because of that.
Dark phase during the day:

These two are the closest to what he looks when he's dark (the pictures are just a tad lighter than real life)

my retic will change from a darker brown/gold to a light green. for mine it seems to go with body temps and sunlight exposure, and mood. body temps is biggest though for mine at least
I don't notice it on Bindi, my Jungle Carpet and i never notice it on my IJ
Ezio is a fantastic looking boa. I really like him.

Yes, boas to have light and dark phases. They also will look very different depending on the light source you view them under. The iridescence of their scales does some crazy things in different light. Try taking a picture under a normal light, a true color bulb, florescent, and natural sun in both sun and shade and you will see many different colors.

Y'all have some beautiful snakes. My blaze changes only closer to shed that I've noticed but we change the lighting because I have to use over tank lighting to keep the humidity down, right now it's extremely humid here in the 80% range inside my house (not good for my guy). But he's gorgeous in the red night time bulb lol!
