I purchased Pharika from a local pet store that has a very good reputation for its reptiles. She was advertised as a "Pink Bug Eyed Leucistic Texas Rat Snake" Now I know nothing about color genetics or any of that. But from my understanding I thought leucistic had black eyes and albino had pink? I'm just curious as to what she actually is. Not a big fan of the bug eyes either.. but shes cute in a funny way. She is incredibly feisty that's for sure LOL

That's not a Leucistic, definitely an albino, leucistics do have black eyes

With texas rat snakes, the pink eyed snakes are both leucistic and albino.

Very nice snake Bird. Congrats on the new addition.
Texas Rats are one of my favorites! I'm really not a fan of Rat Snake morphs but any Texas Rat is awesome in my book. They definitely can be feisty lol. The first pic is great

It's a bit confusing with herps. "Albino" is sort of an informal term, while amelanistic is more to the point. An amelanistic, or albino Texas rat snake would still posses red and yellow pigment, though. So their bodies wouldn't be all white like a leucistic.

She was bought on a whim for sure, I missed having snakes and wasn't quiet set up for something large yet. I was not prepared for how much attitude she has LOL, I laugh it off now and hope she will settle down with more interaction and once she grows up a bit,... It has to be hard to be so tiny.

Be prepared for her to never calm down. Those snakes are notorious for their attitude.
Good looking snake though.

There are also blue eyed lucy balls. :)
Gorgeous snake, either way!

I have a Texas Rat, unknown age, but is cage defensive like crazy. Have to hook him out. Once out, he doesn't strike, but doesn't settle down. Had a few in the past, and there all that way. Always on the move. Good luck, beautiful and fun snakes, just definitely no BP
Leucistic Texas Rat Snakes have the 3 varieties of eye colour, Red, Blue or Black. I have seen a clutch produced that had some with red eyes and some with black eyes.
