So this afternoon i notice that Hershey is doing a bit of a weird rubbing of his head against the glass of his viv. After a few minutes of watching and wondering i realise he is about to shed. Usually he does this in the middle of the day when everyone is at work so it's the first time i've ever seen him do this. He never shows signs of going into shed. Eats throughout, eyes never go cloudy, have never noticed his belly go a bit pink. Sometimes i think he might go a bit quiet leading up to it. But it's a bit hit and miss.
Finally a few hours later i notice him crawling out of the last bit of his skin. Remove it from his tank and notice a retained eye cap. Then comes the trauma of having to hold him while removing it. (he was actually pretty well behaved. But not easy to hold onto him with 4.5 ft wrapped around my arm having a good squeeze)
So fast forward a few hours to dinner time. Put in the 2 f/t mice. Takes number 1 fine. Then decided to take number 2 backwards. About a 1/4 of the way in he seem to think that lifting it up and knocking it against a branch is going to help get it down. Then with a good old squeeze at the same time manages to burst the thing all over his tank. Bring on clean up number 2 of the day.(Mice were left to thaw naturally, and weren't warmed before feeding)
So now both tank and snake have been cleaned up Hershey goes on the hunt for mouse number 3. To his disappointment mouse number 3 doesn't exist. he is now curled up in his hide.(quite possibly having a sulk)
Managaed to take a vid of him having a good ole search. First time uploading with photo bucket, so hope the link works.
