Entertainment center conversion?

Thinking about getting an oak entertainment center off Craigslist and converting it, figure this way it will be tall and I can add branches and give my little retic some workout space, plus when she outgrows it I can have the excuse to put something else in it or split it into 2 cages and get 2 more snakes :D

Be careful, as most entertainment centers are made out of particle board and fall apart once the take a little moisture.

Yeah I was going to convert the one I have now till I saw it was particle board on the back, I'm looking for a solid oak one, I'm going to sand it all down and re coat it anyways

If the only part thats particle board is the back, just replace that piece.

It has that cheap wood looking vinyl stuff over the whole thing, I only noticed by looking at the back where there wasn't a strip of it on there

ive wanted to do this but with a glass coffee table and scorpions... i think it would be sick!

I had started a few projects a couple months ago, and that was one of them, until some idiot stole all my power tools.

Anyways, please post some pics! Seems like an inexpensive way to make a nice display piece.
