Right now, I'm lighting my corn snake's cage with two 6500k CFL's in dome lights. It's working okay, but I feel like it's kind of clunky and inefficient. I was thinking of switching to a different set up, but I know very little about the subject. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I use flourescent tubes in my snake enclosures. I like the repti-glo 2.0 6500k bulb.
Other's use LED which I may switch to soon because of it's low heat output.

I use rgb led light strips and they work great. You can change the color of the lights which is cool. Just measure length needed for enclosures, cut, peel the adhesive backing off the back of the strip, stick to top of enclosure. Plug in ir controller and power supply. You can also go with a white light strip but you want to go with a 5000 to 6500k candle rating.
A waterproof kit like this one with ul rating runs about 58 bucks. You can find cheaper kits but they usually have sub par components. I learned this the hard way! I had a power supply burn out with a cheap kit.
