What sort of length would a retic be before you would feed them a rabbit

I would say around six feet they could start pounding babies.

It really depends on what size rabbits we're talking about. You could get them on pinkys at a pretty small size. I personally started really small rabbits around 6 feet but jamps are also more slender then mainlands. What are the current meal sizes like?

I've got a 3 footer eating rabbit pinks. She won't touch f/t rats (only live) but she loves f/t rabbits.

I think it just depends when you think he/she is ready

This was the point I was trying to make, but I haven't personally fed rabbit pinkies yet, soon for my kalatoa female.

We've got a rabbit breeder that we buy at $1/lb (chickens and goats too). You can't get rats for that price let alone anything else. I'm quite happy to feed rabbits to everything for that price.

I have a 6.5 foot male like that. will take f/t quail and rabbits all day, but rats need to be live.

I wonder if big fully grown rats aren't better nutrition wise than small rabbits?

Actually rats have a higher fat content while bunnies are more lean. Snakes don't break down fat too well, so I would say rabbit. But you can check here (Nutritional Information Comparison for Snack Food | SparkPeople (http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/food_lists_snacks.asp)) for a nutrition sheet.

Depends on how small the rabbits are, full grown mice are more nutritional than rat pups, just like bigger rats are better than than a rabbit that's to small
