Grass in enclosure?

I was wondering if anybody has managed to keep grass alive in an enclosure. Is it possible with snakes that aren't too heavily bodied?

I have had grass in with a retic before, well it was more weeds than actual grass but it looked really nice.. I was watching someone's bird and accidentally toppled over the box of seeds, it fell through the ventilation grid :D It grew pretty nicely, but had to take bits n pieces out when the snake pooped and she squished it. I think it would be really hard to get grass to grow decently... I did see a tub with bamboo growing in it once though, bamboo grows everywhere.

Interesting. The cage I've planted the grass in is for a corn snake, so I don't believe trampling is a risk. I figured even if it died, it would still give him something to playing with, as he seemed to enjoy rubbing on it. I have 2 6500k CFLs in his cage and they've been able to keep other plants alive, so I'm hoping this works.

From what I understand, grass requires too much light for it to really be a good option for a viv. It will probably sprout from seeds, but once it is depending on a light source for energy, die. That's my guess, anyway. I have some experience with bonsai, and the vast majority of trees just can't live indoors for extended periods of time under normal lights. I think most grass is similar.

I had TL lighting in that display vivarium, also the front and sides were made of glass.. That works. :) You'd best get a grass type that requires less light though. Or just get a weed seed mix.. and get all kinds of little plants growing.
