Just a warning to those that aren't always sure or uncertain of what to feed your new or precious animal. We picked this girl up at the weekend who was fed live rats, she's a Super Dwarf Madu Retic. You'll see that she received a nasty bite to her face. She's doing ok and I've applied medication to the affected area. I'll be giving her smaller sized meals until she's shed a few times and its cleared up as not to risk her stretching and re-opening the wound.

Apparently the rat bit her within 10 seconds of being in the viv. I'm not saying don't feed live (that's up to you) but for those who think it won't happen to them, it can.

This is the exact reason I don't do live anymore, to many risks involved with live especially I'd you have expensive animals, good post

I don't feed live unless absolutely necessary. All life is sacred and I don't want either animal to suffer.

Ouch! Beautiful snake, though. And it looks like she's healing up nicely.

Beautiful Snake, and a great reminder for those that do feed live, the potential danger. Unfortunately, my retic and Burm only take live, at the moment, but I will be switching them to pre killed soon, hopefully!

She's gorgeous! Hope she heals up good for ya, and I completely agree with what El-Ziggy said, that's my biggest reason for not feeding live, along with the issue of the snake being harmed.
