Tannimbar Scrub Pythons

As always I posted this on another forum (python forum on Kingsnake) and I thought you might like to see these as well.

Tannimbar Scrubs stay the smallest and CB are quite tame. These guys are suppost to be the second most arboreal python (second to only GTP's), but, mine spend 99% of the time sitting out in the open on their 90F hot spot (heat tape).

Are there scales smooth?

At one time I had 6 Tannimbars (1.1 CB and 2.2 WC). When I purchased the WC's last year I was told they were sold to me as being under 2 feet. When I got them 3 of the 4 were around 6 feet and their heads were twice the size of my 18 month old CB's. As you can imagine they were nasty as hell! So, now I'm working with the original 1.1 CB and 0.1 WC as she was the smallest and the tamest of the WC's. A friend of mine bought the WC's so atleast I know where they are.

I have been told that there are less than 50 Tannimbar scrub pythons in North America. My CB's were large enough and old enough to breed this year but I decided to give them another year off. So, hopefully I will breed them next year (my fingers are crossed).

Their scales are a tad bit smoother than a regular pythons scales.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!. Here is some more info on them if you are interested.

This is what Nick Mutton wrote on the python forum on Kingsnake.com:

"they actually come in 4 color phases. they are still very rare in captivity and they have only been bred 4 times, there are actually only 12 c.b. speciemens in the world currently. w.c. animals are also very hard to come by and can be difficult to acclimate. thereis more information at our website."

My pair of sub adults are siblings to the Xanthic (yellow) patternless male Nick produced which is the only CB patternless Xanthic that has been currently produced in Captivity. Only two people have produced Tannimbars in the USA and only one person in Canada.
