Went for a hike today with my husband and I found two garters, one large (gravid female, I think) and one wee adorable baby! I've never found one so small.
My hands still smell like snake musk after washing them 3 times, but it was worth it.

Garter #1 - she was was a snappy thing! Feisty. She looks indignant in all her photos.

Wow awesome find! Beautiful snakes especially the little one!
Very nice! I came across a bunch of em on Saturday at my dads house. I would a took some pics but my phone came sucks your photos turned out so nice

Nice find. Nothing up here yet. But im looking. Hope to get some pics of rattle snakes this summer.

California Red-sided Garter Snake - Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis (Blainville, 1835) - A beautiful snake from the California coast. Red side patterns with a red head.
I would post a picture here, but I'm new... and can't post pictures yet.
