The two plants in the corners are live,
But the substraight isn't bioactive.
It's just hardwood mulch

ohh. How do you maintain the moss? do you throw it out when defecated/urinated on? Or is there a way to wash them without breaking them down?

Just put it in so I'm not quite sure yet, but I'm assuming just run it under water for a few minutes then wring the excess water out. That's what I did to clean it before putting it in to clean it.
