Hello all! Had to work some overtime today and came home to quite the surprise. One of my smaller females who had only been paired with my male a couple times had laid a couple eggs! She still has one more in her from what I can tell. Another female is due to drop any day now. This is my first time attempting to breed or incubate eggs. I am very excited! Here are some pics of her inside her egg box. Enjoy!

Congrats man. What was the pairing? Can't wait to see the hatchlings. How long so these eggs take to incubate? I've only got a mostly infertile clutch so far this year(7 infertile and 3 that I don't think will make it full term), but I should have another in about a month.

Thanks Sublime! I paired her with a extreme hypo male(falcon line). She is also an extreme hypo female(falcon line) and happens to be one of the lightest females I have ever seen. Hopefully I will end up with some absolutely smoking babies. Incubation usually takes 73-80 days. Sorry to hear about your infertile clutch. Good luck with your next clutches.

Think of a grape with a super smooth and thin leather skin.. That's probably the best way I could describe one.

I started to get nervous about one of my females who has been gravid but has yet to lay eggs. Today she went to the vet for xrays.. She definitely has at least 6 eggs in her! Hopefully she is just taking her time laying her eggs and is not suffering from dystocia. Here is a pic.

That is a cool xray! Hopefully she will lay them just fine!

Thanks man, me too. She was the first of my females that I noticed was visually gravid. The Dr. said that there was not anything wrong with her xrays. So begins the wait...Again

Congrats on the Hondo eggs! I always enjoyed working with them. The hatchlings are some of prettiest of all. I am curious to know what temp are you incubating at? At 73-80 days you have to be down around 78 degrees. I had much better luck at 82-83 degrees. In my experience the Hondo's have a very broad range of temps to incubate. (77-88) For me, the lower temps always produced smaller hatchlings. At a consistent 83 degrees they should hatch in 58-60 days and produce very robust hatchlings..just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Ziggy!!
mclund,
My temps float around 79-80. I thought I read somewhere that at the low end of the temps the babies did take longer to hatch but they were bigger and had absorbed more of the yolk. Thank you very much for your input!! I am about to go bump the temps up 2 degrees!

I think its a good decision, you will not have any problems at 82-83. I was always afraid to go up higher, but I have know others to incubate them at 85. The higher temperatures can result in animals with kinks. Anything over 90...get the salt and paper and have some lunch...cause they are cooked. Best of Luck with them!

Got home this afternoon and she had finished laying her clutch. Poor thing is all shriveled up! She is gonna get a rat pup buffet tomorrow before I leave for a 3 day fishing trip to Lake Guntersville! Nice baby hondos Mclund! Got home from work today to find that another one of my females laid a 7 egg clutch! I have candled all my other eggs and they appear to have little spider web networks of veins within them! Here is a couple pics of the most recent.

Ziggy, I hope so. Hoping to do some trading as well as some sales.
Steve, send me her email and I will try to convince her that a new snake will make you happier!
Here is a shot of the incubator with the eggs cooking! I was going to convert a mini fridge but after gutting it out there was a very weird smell that I could not get rid of. Not knowing what the smell or fumes were I bit the bullet and got a HotBox incubator.
