I switched my Guyana red-tail to rats(f/t) a couple of weeks ago. Prior to this he was snapping mice(f/t) right of the tongs, constricting and eating.....since he's started on rats his 'technique' has changed.....Now he comes up to the rat, gives it a couple of licks and turns away...so I leave it in the enclosure and watch....he circles it...goes in a hide...pops his head out....watches it for a few minutes.....goes to another hide....same thing...then he hides behind his hides and pops his head around the corner....after about 30 minutes he approaches it with, what seems like extreme caution, investigates and starts eating. Its funny to watch his little 'routine' and its always the same since he's started on rats. Gotta wonder whats going through that pea sized brain!ha!

I have a male Surinam (spelling?) who untill only the last two feedings would only eat pre killed and they would still have to be twiching or it was no go!!! Two weeks ago he hammered a f/t rat like it was going out of style. It makes no sense for him (Prometheus) to turn down any thing that wasn't moving and then all of a sudden do an about face and start taking f/t.I did offer f/t at each and every feeding since I have had him(3 1/2 months now) so I guess he just got used to it and has become less fussy. That's why I keep boa's they never fail to amaze me in one way or another.I think in time your GTR will become a rat hammer. Best of luck Regards Hip Life is not a problem to be, solved It is a mystery to be explored
