I've always done it with a string while there curled up, so stay relatively still like burms others like carpet pythons not so much lol, just have to catch them on the right day :D also funny joke, didn't know if you were really asking or just showing the joke

This is what I use - IMO way easier and more accurate than measuring by hand:
