Ever since I moved my adult corn snake onto a bio-active set up, I've noticed a lot more of his behavior. One odd aspect of his behavior that I have noticed is his tendency to spend a lot of time resting out in the open. His isn't usually directly under the lamp, so I'm not sure it would be considered basking. He just appears to be sleeping out in the open.
He has hides(both warm and cool), as well as a lot of soil that he frequently burrows in, yet he spends much of his time exposed. I've thought that he may be absorbing some UV from the lights I use for my plants, but I'm unsure if that is typical corn behavior. What do you guys think? Is he simply comfortable with resting out in open because he doesn't feel threatened?
